Until the reboot of Rogue Hunter, I had no use for an age guidelines system since what I wrote to that point was for general audiences. However, my recent faster and louder approach to writing books has shaken things up. The new Rogue Hunter books, as an example, are venturing into previously unexplored territory for me and definitely caters to a mature crowd.
Unlike many authors, I've decided against using a pen name. One downside to this decision is that it risks confusing readers as to which books of mine might be safe for younger readers and which ones aren't. So from now on, I'll be using age appropriate ratings similar to those used by the film industry on this site to help readers decide which of my books is right for them. I'll also be keeping a close eye on things to see if this makes any difference in the long run in making sure the right books make it into the hands of the right readers.
